The Jewish Studies Program mourns the death of Professor Dr. Micha Brumlik

Honoring a Leading Voice in Contemporary Jewish Philosophy.

The Jewish Studies Program at Dartmouth College mourns the death of Professor Dr. Micha Brumlik, who served as our Brownstone Visiting Professor during the summer term of 2013 and was a frequent guest speaker. His scholarship ranged broadly, as he was an important scholar of modern Jewish thought.

As a major public intellectual in postwar Germany, Professor Brumlik published extensively on issues of antisemitism, the Shoah and the memorialization of European Jews, Christian-Jewish relations, Jewish ethics, Zionism, and contemporary political movements. His publications were extensive, and his guidance to graduate students and young scholars deeply appreciated.

We extend our sympathies to his wife, Renate, their children, and to all of his friends and colleagues with whom we mourn the loss of this great human being.
