Professors Heschel and El-Ariss speak about fostering dialogue on college campus on CNN's Amanpour and Company

Chair of Middle Eastern Studies program, Professor Tarek El-Ariss, and Chair of Jewish Studies program, Professor Susannah Heschel, spoke on CNN's Amanpour and Company with Michel Martin about the departments' setting up of forums for students to discuss their thoughts and feelings. She talks to them about what this response yielded and what it achieved.

"When we co teach, we think together, to come to a problem and the classroom becomes a place where students work together and form friendships and not polarize and that's what we wanted to achieve through these forums and that's exactly what happened," says Professor Heschel.

Professor El-Ariss said, "We engage intellectually, with the complexity of histories and conflicts, and at the same time to maintain a community of care. We want them to support each other as well."
