While the connection between Yiddish and Arabic—or between Yiddish and Arabs—has recently gained cultural attention in various artistic and curatorial projects, scholarly engagement with this relationship has remained relatively limited. This presentation introduces a research project launched in April 2025 at Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg, which examines the history and development of the figure of the Arab in Yiddish language and literature.
