From Al-Andalus to Elias Khoury: Rethinking Translation in Conflict Hosted by Jewish Studies
Yehouda Shenhav-Shahrabani (Ph.D Stanford 1985) is an Arab Jew. He is professor emeritus of sociology at Tel Aviv University, and chief editor of Maktoob, a book series for the translation of Arabic literature, at the Jerusalem Vanleer Institute. He is also Membre du Conseil Scientifique de l'Institute d'Études Avancées de Nantes. Among his books: Manufacturing Rationality (1999 Oxford University Press), The Arab Jews (2006, Stanford University Press) and Beyond the Two State Solution (2014, Polity Press). He translated 20 novels from Arabic to Hebrew, including works by: Elias Khoury, Salman Natour, Mahmoud Shukair, Ali al-Muqri, Samuel Shimon, Eyad Barguti – among others.
